Who here is annoyed with those damn dimples on your legs, arms, and stomach? I sure as hell am, but it’s a part of life and normal for most women. Darn cellulite! There are a few causes of cellulite. Stress hormones, weight gain, water retention in the legs, and dehydration just to name a few. What if I said there are ways to minimize the appearance of cellulite? Well, it is! I recommend speaking to your doctor first.

Here are just a few methods to get started attacking those stubborn areas.

Hydration

My first suggestion and most important step is to stay hydrated. Drinking plenty of water detoxifies the body and can improve hormonal imbalance. Yes, stress and hormonal imbalance can cause cellulite to develop. If you're having trouble drinking water, try adding cucumbers to it for flavor.

Eating Healthy

Try adding more greens to your diet. Reduce simple and processed carbohydrates. Simple carbs are sugar, syrups, candy, sugary drinks, etc. Processed carbs are white bread, white rice, pizza, etc. Some ways to get started eating healthy are creating weekly meal plans, healthy of course, eating home-cooked meals more often, and portion control.

Physical Activity

Exercising, weight training, and increasing cardio at least 3 to 4 times a week. Burning fat and weight help minimize the appearance. Strength training helps build muscle which in turn helps with skin elasticity, If you think this to be hard, start slow. I found out the hard way that “cold turkey” is not always a good way. Need a little help starting? See my previous post on 5 healthy habits you can do to improve your physical and mental health here. I share simple steps you can do on a daily basis to start living a healthier life.

Skin Firming Creams

There are creams specially made to treat cellulite and build elasticity. Not all products will work, so you will have to find what works best for you. Here are a few that are my favorite. Nivea skin firming, collagen creams, and collagen oils. Some ingredients to search for are vitamin A, which plumps up the skin, Vitamins E and C, caffeine, retinol, and L-carnitine.

Dry Brush

Final tip, dry brushing, massaging, and exfoliating scrubs. Exfoliate 2 - 3 times a week. This includes dry brushing before a shower and massaging with our recommended skin firming cream after. Experiment with coffee scrubs. Did I mention coffee scrubs work on stretch marks too? Bonus! Always make sure you do a skin test before using new products.

I’m not going to tell you that your cellulite will disappear, but I will tell you if you follow some of the suggestions given, you should see some type of improvement. Again always consult your doctor before.
