Making the decision to wear makeup and picking out the correct color that fits your skin tone can be a bit daunting.

Don’t stress. Leave that to the professionals and as you get better with time, you will eventually know what has worked for you and what hasn’t. I’m here to give you quick and easy basic ways to apply your foundation.

The first step is picking the right foundation. Sephora is really excellent at helping you find your perfect match.

In my opinion, it’s best to pick a foundation that’s not too heavy. I’ll list some of my favorites below.

Okay. Did you purchase your foundation? Great! Now let’s get to it!

I’m going to let you in on a little secret. I’ve been wearing makeup for over 15 years and I’d like to think I have a pretty good grasp on the best techniques to apply foundation. Granted, everyone will not agree or maybe even dislike some of my ways, but I do what works.

My go-to in the morning before I start my day is the beauty blender. You simply dampen the blender and use one or two pumps of foundation and pat into the skin well. It gives a natural look with light coverage. And get this, you can build on top of each layer if you want to add more without it looking cakey.

Next, is the foundation brush. I personally don’t use it as often. I really use it if I need to apply a heavier cover on my face or cover a blemish or pimple. I’ll list my favorite brushes below.

Last, you’re going to think I’m nuts but this is my easiest way to apply foundation. And that’s using my fingers. I wash my hands thoroughly before I apply. I only use one pump of foundation and blend it gently into my skin.

Warning* please be gentle when blending. Treat your skin well.

You’ll find the warmth from your fingers helps melt the foundation on your skin. If you feel you’ve applied too much, use your beauty blender after to help blend and absorb the excess.
